What were my accomplishments this month?
Got six months of 2 calenders done for Christmas presents.

What were my disappointments this month?
Still haven't cleaned up my scrap crap

Anything else noteworthy to include?

Organization tip

So here is my super simple tip for planning your 2011

Maybe everyone else already did this...but I thought I would share for anyone else who isn't such a forward thinker!
Pick up a cheap pocket calender (I got mine from Michael's dollar bin) and throw it in your bag now. I already have several commitments that I know of in the new year (examples: teeth cleaning, family weddings, annual fall festivals plus all of the stuff on school & church calenders).  As things come up you can add them on the fly.  When you go to set up your planner or family calender at the start of the new year you will already have everything in one place!

I used to write this stuff on the last few pages of my planner...but would always miss stuff.

The things they say

Until the last few days the only thing Andrew really said was Da, Da, Da and Haa.  Today he said Baa Ba (like bye bye).  I almost cried...they grow up too fast!

Sarah inherited a six month old pit bull from her ex.  His name is Chico and he is the SWEETEST dog ever.  Josh says his name...Teeco.

While watching Chugginton (a Disney show about trains) they talked about nurses and what they do to help sick people.  I told Josh, "I am a nurse."

Josh said "No your not.  You are Mommy!"  I tried to explain that when I went to work it was to help sick people and that I was a nurse...."no, you are just a mommy."

Almost anyone else in the world telling me I am "just a mommy" would get a lecture...Josh got a hug.  I told him he was cute....he said, "I know I am funny and smart too!"

I love being a mom....nothing else is even close to being as great!

Just another day?

So today was just another day...except...

  • Hubby's birthday today, turned 35.
  • Josh went all day without having an accident...then peed on the floor while he was telling me he didn't have to go potty
  • Andrew is pulling himself up on everything, and will even stand up on his own now
  • I commited to being healthier...um I had a candy bar for breakfast, chips and a REAL soda for lunch and a mini pizza for dinner...I am pretty sure this is the worst I have eaten in MONTHS....
  • I got not 1 but 2 parking tickets
  • I got a jury duty summons (2nd one this year)

Yep just another day!  LMAO  (otherwise I might just cry!!!)

Commit to loosing it!

I crack myself up!  Commit to loosing it?  As if...I need any help loosing it!  Well I do when it comes to weight.  I need to drop the 35 extra pounds that I am STILL lugging around with me.

I was doing really well until summer time hit.  I have literally had something going on every weekend since May.  The weekdays haven't been much better.  In all honesty I have just gotten lazy.  It is so much easier to eat junk!

I am commiting to loosing it....the WEIGHT that is!  I am joining the girls over at the "How to" Homemaker blog
http://www.howtohomemaker.com/2010/07/how-to-healthy-living-do-you-want-to.html#comment-form

I am hoping that the added accountability helps!

Confession challenge

Cathy Z challenged readers to write a list of confessions related to motherhood...

  • I always hated when my mom and my sister said I didn't really understand, because I didn't have kids...but it is true.
  • I can't imagine my life without my boys.
  • My biggest fear is loosing one or both of my boys.
  • I love baking cupcakes with Josh, even though it makes a huge mess in the kitchen.
  • Watching my boys build a bond as brothers makes me sad for the fact that my sister and I didn't like each other growing up...and blessed to have her as my best friend now.
  • I love my time alone...and DON'T feel guilty about it!
  • When my sons learn something new I am so proud, each thing makes me want to do the happy dance!
  • I will never understand how my kids got so smart, seriously Josh is crazy smart!
  • I wish I was better at making healthy meals, saying no to poor food choices and building life long exercise habits for my kids.

Easter Sunday

Well Andrew was happy with his first Easter. Tons of attention, snuggles all day and no shortage of activities or people to watch. Josh loves any day that includes presents and candy!

My trip to the Dollar Tree for home decor items the other day totally paid off. I ended up buying a Cars jump rope and some Diego bubbles as well as baskets, eggs and some picture frames that all went into the boys Easter baskets. The jump rope and bubbles where the biggest hits of the day. Aunt Sarah scored big with Toy Story dvd. G-ma made good with a Cars sticker book and some HUGE M&M's. Maw-Maw was cool with a set of four Cars and big boy underwear (THomas the Train) which Amber actually got him to WEAR!!! Josh was so excited...he peed in his pants! LMAO! Oh well it is a start, and I got some super cute pictures. All in all it was a crazy and fun day enjoyed by all!

Life

I am always amazed by the human race.  Today while at work I met a family who was so concerned about showing their "support" that they forgot to ask the patient what he wanted.  I was stressing out trying to get all of the details arranged and things set up...just when I had all of the pieces falling into place the patient, who is very short of breath and having a hard time talking, tells me he doesn't want to go home until in the morning.  This in itself was not a big deal, but I just know that in him making the decision to stay in the hospital tonight that he will most likely not make it out of the hospital, that he will probably die tonight in the hospital...again this is not something different in my job.  However the family was so mad.  I have such a hard time keeping my cool with families who tell me that the patients comfort is all they care about...then why get mad when a patient changes their mind or gets scared or try and talk them into something they don't want or out of something they do???  Most days I love my job...the fact that I get to help people die comfortably on their own terms, but somedays when it feels like the fates, families and "system" are against me I just want to come home, take a hot shower and go to bed...yeah RIGHT...that is SO not my life!  LMAO...to keep from crying!

February Round-up

This is from the blog of http://scrapbooklady.typepad.com/katie_the_scrapbook_lady/

She asks the same list of questions each month.  This helps if you are a slacker like me and don't keep up with your scraping/journaling!

What books and/or magazines did I read this month?
Well none...that is sad!  I spend all of my free time reading the blogs and messages boards on the internet!

What movies, television shows, plays, etc. did I watch this month?

Same as always I guess...my shows include House, Grey's Anatomy, Bones, Life Unexpected NCIS.  Most are reruns due to the fact that the winter olymicis has been on (yuck).

If you count all of the "Josh" tv then Word World, Sid the Science Kid, Super Why, and Chungginton.

What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends?
Let's see...We went to the super bowl party at th Hummingbird Club with Mike & Amber. Joann, Ashley and Grandpa Burt where there with us too!

I spent several days hanging out with my friend Vickie at her house which I haven't done in a while.  Jason & I went to the Texas Roadhouse for dinner Valentines Day (in the snow!)

Amber, Tammi (Amber's Mom) and I went shopping for invitation cardstock and out for a  late lunch at Los Cabos.

What gifts did I give and/or receive?
I got and gave a Valentines card from Jason.  We didn't do presents, but no big deal...we don't really need anything at this point!

I gave Josh a set of Mighty Machine dvd's which he loves...he is such a boy!  Dirt, trucks, airplanes, tractors and boats...can't ask for more!

The boys both got cards with a dollar for their piggy banks from G-ma and Pops.

What special or unusual purchases did I make?
Bought a tiny attacher and a binderie...both still in my trunk...really need to finish cleaning up downstairs so I can play with all of my scrap crap!

Bought Josh a new pair of tennis shoes, which he will not wear!

Got some new pillows after Josh threw up on his...just couldn't get the smell out!

What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
So glad that I can say that I FINALLY got over my cold or URI junk!

The boys both had the URI junk too.  We took Andrew to the ER a few weeks ago for a fever of 103.  Thankfully they are both better.  I hate when my kids are sick, it makes me feel so out of control (for us control freaks it isn't a comfortable feeling!)

Josh and Jason both got puking sick last weekend.  Jason was SO sick he missed a day of work...which is only the second day of work he has missed since I have known him (fourteen years).

What were my accomplishments this month?
I made it through the month without running away! LOL!  3 sick males in the house at one time?  Not what a girl would consider a good time.

I am down another 6 pounds, not great but, progress none the less...I am wearing pants that I haven't been able to get into since before Josh was born.  WOO HOO!

I have my circle journal done on time.

I have purged 3 boxes of stuff from my scrap crap and am ALMOST done with putting everything back together.  I still have quite a bit I want to change, but it is almost a workable space again!

What were my disappointments this month?
This is a hard one.  I actually have a coworker who had some major problems.  He kind of lost it. It has caused a lot of upheaval and change in an already tense work place.  I truly feel bad for the guy, it seems like he is very troubled.

I really was hoping to get my scrap area back together weeks ago, but with all of the sickness and stress at work I was just too exhausted to go down and face my mess!

How did I do on my goals for the month? (Or any current short or long term goals)
To be honest I didn't really make much head way on anything this month.  Kind of just kept my head above the water...which I was part of my commitment for the new year...do more than just tread water...so I guess I will try again in March and hope that I can make some progress!

Anything else noteworthy to include?
Always something...

Jason played and lost in the first round of Dartball play offs...shocking!

Andrew can now hold his own bottle.

Andrew loves his exersaucer...the jumping up and down and spinning around and watching his little piece of the world go by!

I am loving glimmer mist, margaritas and twix bars lately.  I am happily addicted to Ustream scrap shows and blog surfing.  I am going to go to work on my scrap crap...until next time!

still alive..

Ok so I just heard the song by Kenny Chesney & Dave Mattews Band "still alive"....so thought I would say that I am still alive. Totally love this song by the way...of course who doesn't love Kenny and Dave? Which reminds me Mom called to tell me that Jimmy Buffet is coming back to town....Parrothead in the house...we are so going.  I told my mom that I am buying her ticket if she can't afford it.  Mom, Sarah and I had the BEST time together last time.  I think this time we should go about noon and just hang out and drink and be silly...guess we will see...might have to see who else wants to go... not sure that Mom and Dad will want to be there at noon!

The boys are feeling much better.  Andrew is teething so he is fussier than normal, but overall much better.  Thank you GOD!

The snow is melting...kind of ...it is still freezing outside, but atleast some of the slush and slop is gone.  I really need spring!

I finished my intro, rules and layout for my circle journal.  Of course I didn't finish it until the last minute so I forgot to take pictures before I swapped...oh well!  I decided I would organize my scrap crap...uhhh not that you can really tell right now.  It sort of looks like a bomb went off in my basement.  Josh keeps coming down here telling me I suppose to be cleaning up my junk.   Yeah well it isn't that easy.  I have been throwing stuff into piles for months now, so it is purge and rearrange time.  I have actually made some real progress in the last few hours.  I decided to stop and take a break to check my email and stuff...I am actually ready to get back to work...who knew????  I guess a week of sitting on my butt with my kids crying and whining has actually been good for me.

Went back to work today for the first time in a week and a half...yep it still sucks!  LOL.  I can't beilieve how crazy it gets sometimes.  The whole group of girls is in an uproar because we are so short staffed...still more people working than when I started...and we actually do less!  I really do love my job, but it is most definatly cRaZy!  I discharged 3 pateints before lunch today...GO ME!  Ofcourse someone will be pissed cause I missed something or forgot to tell them something, but so goes life with hospice!

Well my scrap crap is calling my name....welll not really, but I really want to scrap so I better find my table...and my trimmer!  Who knows maybe I will even take some pictures..and figure out how to post them!

Being a mom is totally stressful!!!

So being a mom is the best thing EVER. But sometimes it can be super stressful. Thursday night Andrew seemed unusually fussy. I say unusually because, well isn't really ever fussy. By Friday morning I had like zero sleep, Andrew was a total crab and Josh was ready to go to Sarah's house. Ummmm...well Mommy is tired, Andrew is working on getting sick and Sarah doesn't want us around if we have cooties. Josh was understandably mad. Luckly it is really easy to distract a 2 year old...want some fruit snacks? Want to to watch 10 episodes of really annoying kid tv? OK!

By 7 pm Friday night Jason went to Walmart to get a thermometer...Andrew's temp was 102.9....UMMMM, yeah I am calling the doctor....yes I am a horrible mother. THere are literally 7 thermometers in the house and NONE of them worked...good job nurse, MOM!

Off to St John's Mercy Medical Center in St Louis...my favorite place to go on my day off! The pediatric ER was actually pretty quite. We drove through what looked like a blizzard to get there...Yes he has a tempature, yes we tortured him by sucking snot out of his nose for a RSV and influenza culture. Made you hold your beautiful baby boy to a table while shooting a chest x-ray and then made you sit in a little room for 2 hours...but hey we did tell you that your baby has a fever and probably some type of virus, no we aren't going to do anything for it...Thanks for spending your Friday night with us. Come back if your baby stays sick....I love the medical system in this country!

Spending time with family & friends

I spent the weekend with family and friends. Saturday morning I ran over to Karen's house and picked up my Memory Works Life Stories kit. Jill my neighboor and Becki, the boys babysitter came over and we scrapbooked for a while. Sunday we went to my sisters house to see baby Bella and celebrate Sarah's 30th birthday.

Josh graduated to a big boy bed only room this weekend. The baby bed has offically been retired to the basement! It is great to have more room in there, but it is sad that my baby doesn't need a crib anymore.

Andrew is still pretty fussy at times, those teeth are right beneth the surface and just don't seem to want to pop thru!

wild hair

Ok so for some reason today I got a wild hair up my @$$ and decided to go crazy cleaning.  I have rearranged several cabniets, cleaned the microwave and OVEN (yes I use the oven...hello...Red Baron hambuger pizza!).  I have also done 5 loads of laundry, and put them AWAY!  flipped the mattress on my bed (washing the sheets now).  Bagged up a ton of junk for goodwill and taken out 3 bags of trash.  I still need to clean the bathrooms and Josh's room...and I totally need to go downstairs to clean up all of my scrap crap!  Not to mention the rest of the mess that seems to be EVERYWHERE in this house!  How many freakn' toys do 2 kids need???

Perfect is pretty, but finished is BEAUTIFUL....holy crap!  I love this saying.  I might just get it tattooed on my forehead...

I am not sure what this blog will end up being, a journal? a vent? a place to show off all the scrappy stuff I am going to accommplish this year?  I guess only time will tell.

I am hoping to have scrap stuff to show after the scrap retreat!
